Operator 13 Productions has officially completed production on the new and improved version of Lugosi: The Forgotten King.
The updated documentary will include nine new interviews. Not bad considering our subject did the bulk of his work in the 1930′s and 40′s!
New interviews with Lugosi co-stars:
- Louise Currie (The Ape Man, Voodoo Man)
- Donnie Dunagan (Son of Frankenstein)
- Janet Ann Gallow (Ghost of Frankenstein)
- Anne Jeffreys (Zombies on Broadway, Genius at Work)
- Carla Laemmle (Dracula)
Other new interviews:
- Terry Castle (daughter of William Castle)
- David Frankham (Return of the Fly)
- Sara Karloff (daughter of Boris Karloff)
- Bela G. Lugosi (son of Bela Lugosi)
This is of course in addition to the interviews with Ralph Bellamy (Ghost of Frankenstein), Carroll Borland (Mark of the Vampire), John Carradine (Voodoo Man, Return of the Ape Man, The Black Sleep) and Alex Gordon (Bride of the Monster) already found in the 1985 version of the film.
Lugosi: The Forgotten King will now enter post production. The DVD will be released later this year. Watch this space for more “From the set” reports and updates on our progress in completing the film.

Good to hear that Bela’s back again. We´ve been busy here in Mexico prelparing the Spanish language version of Lugosi, Hollywood’s Dracula (Bela Lugosi: El Drácula de Hollywood) will be premiered on Friday July 13th and will be available in DVD for all of Latin American and Spain. Germán Robles replaced the narration of Robert Clarke.
Sounds great – I look forward to seeing it!
