Last week the Operator 13 team had the privilege of interviewing Joyce Meadows. Ms. Meadows starred in the 1957 cult classic The Brain From Planet Arous with sci-fi legend John Agar.
Ms. Meadows offered her recollections of the making of the film as well her experiences working with John Agar on a total of three films. We also discussed politics including the political climate of the Atomic Age, her memories of doing a USO tour in Vietnam, and the elections coming up in November.
Another highlight of the interview was Ms. Meadows’ insights into the role of women in film and society during the 1950s. She also shared her views on why Atomic Age sci-fi and horror films waned – she attributes it to the rise of Lee Strasberg’s Actor’s Studio.
All in all it was a fascinating evening and another great addition to the film!
